Virtual Session, 22 November 2025

A landmark strategic meeting and virtual engagement between the International Curriculum Association (ICA) and SPK Indonesia (The Association of Indonesian SPK Schools) was held on 22 November 2025. The ICA Virtual Session marked an important step in formalizing collaboration between ICA’s globally recognized curriculum frameworks and the regulatory context of Indonesia’s Satuan Pendidikan Kerja Sama (SPK) schools.

The session served as a formal introduction of ICA to school leaders across Indonesia, positioning ICA as a leading International Curriculum Provider (Lembaga Pendidikan Asing/LPA). Since the 2014 ministerial decree, schools offering international education in Indonesia are required to operate under the SPK framework and to partner with approved foreign education institutions. During the session, ICA highlighted its global reach, supporting more than 1,000 schools in over 90 countries and working with over 15,000 educators worldwide.

A key focus of the discussion was the alignment between ICA’s curriculum frameworks and Indonesia’s SPK requirements. The session explored how ICA programmes integrate international standards while respecting national values, including the incorporation of Pancasila, Bahasa Indonesia, and local cultural contexts—an essential component for SPK schools operating in Indonesia.

ICA also presented an overview of its Model for Improving Learning, built on three core pillars: Improving Learning, Unlocking Potential, and Championing Quality. The programme includes age-specific frameworks designed to support student development at every stage, including the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) for ages 2–5, the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) for ages 5–11, and the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC) for ages 11–14. A central element of the model is the ICA Accreditation Pathway, which provides a globally recognized quality mark for schools that meet ICA’s rigorous standards.

The collaboration between ICA and SPK Indonesia represents a strategic partnership aimed at elevating the quality of private and international education in Indonesia. Following a visit by the SPK Indonesia delegation to the United Kingdom in early 2025, the partnership was established to ensure that ICA programmes are fully aligned with Indonesian education regulations. One of the key outcomes of this collaboration is the development of a Professional Development (PD) Hub, offering SPK educators access to webinars, online courses, and global professional networks.

In addition, the partnership supports quality assurance by creating a clearer and more accessible pathway for SPK schools to pursue ICA Accreditation, reinforcing trust and confidence among parents and stakeholders through independent, internationally benchmarked evaluation.

SPK Indonesia was represented during the virtual session by Julie, Made, Dewi, and Fitri, whose participation reflected the association’s strong commitment to professional learning, regulatory alignment, and international collaboration. The ICA Virtual Session 2025 underscores SPK Indonesia’s ongoing efforts to build meaningful global partnerships that empower schools, educators, and learners, while strengthening the future of international education in Indonesia.
